Matt Hall is a third-generation pilot, former RAAF Fighter Combat (Top Gun) instructor, international aerobatic competitor, and in 2009 became not only the first Australian to ever compete in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship, but also the first Rookie to take out the title of the 2019 championship in the final season of Red Bull Air Race.

“I’m excited to be partnering with Bausele, the first company to be commissioned to design watches for the Air Force in Australia for 70 years. Commemorating the RAAF Centenary this year is something we have in common and the two watches they have produced are a fitting tribute, as well as being unique timepieces” – Matt Hall

Matt has a long history in the air, beginning flying with his dad from an early age, making his first solo flight at age 15 in a glider, before gaining his aircraft pilot’s licence at the age of 18. Matt has over 5500 hours in various aircraft types and is passionate about general aviation and light aircraft. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather who flew in World War II, Matt is a former Royal Australian Air Force Fighter Pilot and spent three years in the USA flying over 500 hours in the F-15E Strike Eagle, including combat. Matt has been awarded combat decorations by both the US and Australia. Matt has been flying aerobatics for many years and has travelled extensively to international air shows and aerobatic competitions. Matt is also the author of “The Sky is Not the Limit’ – firsthand insights into his professional life.

Matt Hall’s affiliation with the Royal Australian Air Force, being a former fighter pilot, naturally drew him to the Australian-designed watches featuring a piece of an actual fighter jet F/A-18 and a tribute to the trusted Caribou used for decades by the Air Force. Aptly named the Aviator and the Airfield they are true collector’s pieces honoring 100 years of the Royal Australian Air Force in March 2021. By purchasing a RAAF watch, each customer is supporting the restoration and preservation of historic RAAF aircraft.
